Sunday 11th
Friday, 9th December 2011 (Extra bit) After packing, we set off on holiday and travelled to Yeovil in the afternoon where we stayed the night in a Travelodge. It took nearly 4 hours because there was a lot of traffic on the motorway. Pikachu got bored until he watched the Shrek Christmas Special on his ipod touch.
Then, this morning, we drove West through Devon into Cornwall and up to the North coast to Tintagel where we visited the castle.

Some people think Tintagel castle was where King Arthur was born. Lots of people have different ideas about it, and there is various written and other evidence about who might have built the castle and lived there. Most people think King Arthur is a legend and wasn’t a real person, but there may be someone, or more than one person who he was based on.
There are some good views when you are in the castle:

Looking down on the lower castle:

Underneath the castle is Merlin’s Cave which you can walk through during low tide.

We went into the cave. At one point, as it was so dark, Mr Sidey accidentally stood in a rock pool and got a wet foot.
Looking in one direction through the cave:

and the other:

There was a big waterfall just outside the cave.
