Redcar to Staithes

Monday 13th --- Home --- Wednesday 15th

Although Mr Sidey has done most of the UK coast, including all of the East coast from Dover, around East Anglia and from Skegness to Whitby, we haven't done some of the North East coast and today we drove North from York and started at Redcar - it's another coastal town being modernised. In the distance you can see all the industrial factory-type stuff, probably in Hartlepool.

I think these had got a bit lost, so Pikachu decided he'd try and round them up:

No donkeys. This instead:

We had a fish and chip lunch, then set off to the next town, Saltburn, which had a pier:

Which we went on. (Can you see the cliff-lift at the end of the pier?):

Next, around some very steep twisting roads to a little village called Skinningrove, and then to Staithes which is an amazing fishing village perched on the steep sides of a river estuary:

Can you see him?:

Reminded me a bit of Stromness:

He wasn't in the last two, incase you were wondering!

Click here for a 360 degree panorama in Staithes. Mostly likely it will open in a new tab. Click on the picture to enlarge it, and use the scroll bars to move around. I was standing on the bridge. The edges of the picture show behind me on the bridge.
