I've passed the sign for WSM on the M5 so many times in the past and it must be one of the only coastal towns I haven't visited so it was on my list. Like I often do, I found a parking spot a few kms from the place I want to go to and cycle from there. Today, I started about 5km North of WSM and had a walk out to Sand Point along a thin rocky strip of land.

Next I cycled south to WSM going past this old derelict pier:

I continued South passed WSM onto a cycle path only stopping when I got to the end of a trail. On the way back I saw some sailing boats and these abseilers:

As I got to WSM again, there was a vintage car show going on, and Pikachu wanted the yellow one of these:

The pier is quite impressive. As well as the outside decks, there is also a covered walkway the whole way along and all the amusements, dodgems and rides are under cover in a giant building at the end.

Finally the GPS map. (Walking is in red, cycling in green - I walked along the pier and into town.)

I often stop off at Porthcawl on the South Wales Coast as it is only a couple of miles from my route along the M4. It has amusements and food and a sandy beach etc, but what I really like is walking a km or so to the rocks and climbing all over them. It's kind of like being on another planet...

Pikachu stepped dangerously close to the edge of a massive waterfall:

And a rock pool:

We're now in St Clears. Tomorrow the weather looks terrible!
